The Endy Enby was created to talk about life as a non-binary person with ADHD, and everything that it entails. When I first started looking at ADHD stuff, I found that most of it was targeted to children, or parents of ADHD children. What was targeted at adults was largely targeted at men, or at least assumed the male experience with ADHD was the standard.
There’s some amazing content out there by and about women with ADHD, and I’d be totally lost without it. My personal epiphany was through ADHD Alien, and I also highly recommend Black Girl Lost Keys. But I couldn’t find anything that centered the non-binary perspective, besides a few guest posts on other blogs.
There need to be spaces for neurodivergent transgender people to learn from and connect with each other, especially in the wake of studies (1, 2, 3) suggesting that neurodivergence may be more common in transgender people.
I’m not the authority on anyone’s experience but my own, but hopefully my experiences will help some of you. Whether you’re also an Endy Enby, wondering if you might be, or are just curious to learn, this is the place for you!
The Author
Hi, I’m Syd Rosen, the creator of this thing, the Endy Enby! Well, one of them. There’s lots of Endy Enbies out there. I’m an aspiring health educator in my last semester of undergraduate university, studying Public Health. I’m also working on an accelerated Master’s in LGBTQ+ Public Health. Check back here in May to see if I successfully get my Bachelor’s and my Health Education Specialist Certificate! I’ll have so many letters after my name when all is said and done.
I’ve been out as non-binary since around 2018, and my pronouns are they/them/theirs. I got my formal ADHD diagnosis in March 2020, though I suspected long before then. Other stuff about me: I spend most of my free time playing video games, either on Switch or PC. I love to bake, I’m a sucker for anything chocolate.
